Convert between PNG, JPG, and WebP with a live before & after preview — free, private, instant.
JPG doesn't support transparency — any transparent areas will become white.
Different formats suit different jobs — JPG for photos and small file sizes, PNG for transparency and sharp edges, WebP for fast-loading websites. This tool converts between all three right in your browser, with a live preview so you can see the result before downloading.
Upload an image, choose the format you want to convert to, adjust quality if converting to JPG or WebP, then tap Convert. Compare the before/after preview and download when you're happy with it.
JPG is best for photos — small file size, no transparency support. PNG is best when you need transparency or sharp text/logos — larger files, lossless. WebP gives PNG-like quality (including transparency) at JPG-like file sizes, and is well supported by modern browsers, making it a good default for websites.
Converting from a lossy format to PNG does not restore lost detail; it only stores the current pixels without further loss.
JPG cannot store transparency. When you convert a PNG or WebP with transparent areas to JPG, those areas become a solid colour, so the tool warns you first. If you need a transparent logo on the web, keep PNG or WebP. If you need a JPG for a form that rejects other formats, preview the result before downloading to confirm the background looks right.
Typical tasks include turning a WebP picture from a website into a JPG that your editor or a form accepts, making a PNG screenshot smaller by converting it to JPG or WebP, and creating WebP versions of site images for faster loading. iPhone users who hit HEIC problems can read why HEIC photos will not open and how to fix it. After converting, shrink the file further with Compress Image. Our guide to JPG vs PNG vs WebP goes deeper into the trade-offs. To build a PDF from the converted pictures, use Image to PDF. Conversion happens locally in your browser.
Will I lose quality converting to JPG or WebP?
Both use lossy compression, so there's some quality loss, controlled by the quality slider. PNG conversion is lossless.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG doesn't support transparency — any transparent areas are filled with white. Use PNG or WebP if you need to keep transparency.
Does this upload my photos anywhere?
No — conversion happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your image is never transmitted to a server.
